Change is an inevitability that perpetually surrounds man. Rain pours as the weather decides. The sun rises then sets, and at night, the moon waxes and wanes. Leaves wilt while seeds sprout. Even the passing of time itself is change; all subtle reminders of one’s ever changing experience. No man is the same as he was yesterday, nor will he remain the same tomorrow.
“The Transfiguration” is a surreal depiction of this idea.
Change in man is a simultaneous process of opening oneself for both release and acceptance. Release of transgressions and misguided acts committed by past selves, though holding on to the lessons imparted. This reveals a metaphorical blank slate, allowing acceptance for change. It is still up to man, however, on how change will be acted upon, despite it being constant.
