Erika Abe (b.1998) draws influence on the composition and storytelling of manga (Japanese comics) to depict narratives of her own. Her captivation with manga began as a form of entertainment in her childhood, later on evolving to seeing it as a byproduct of an observed and experienced reality. Using watercolor and manga cutouts as her primary medium, Erika creates collages and paintings that reflects on the interconnection between imagined and everyday scenarios and objects. She also works with ceramics. Erika Abe is a Filipino-Japanese artist based in Cavite, Philippines. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
