When I was a teenager my mind would wander into notebooks always imagining life in dots, lines, eyes, shapes, and any figures that would make sense to me instead of my stupid high school. Doodles have taught me how to dream in lines, and figures. They have served as an escape from the mundanity of classes in high school. They have taught me how to look at a composition and challenge my perception of what I think looks “good”. As I continue to create art, I wonder if that teenager can still reintegrate with my soul when it comes to creating and calling out what works for me and what doesn’t as I continue to grow.
