Collection: Eyes Without A Face
As a continuation of De Leon’s previous solo exhibition “Refining,” which delved into the raw and intimate human struggles and captured the process of cleansing through pain and courage, “Eyes Without a Face” emerges as both a response and a resolution, a visual meditation on rediscovery and reconnection, shifting its gaze to what remains after the struggle: the fragments of identity, faith, and relationships that craves to be made whole again.
In this body of work, De Leon evokes a haunting sense not merely of absence, but of reawakening; an awareness that what was once thought to be lost can, through grace and reflection, be found anew; the exhibition becomes a metaphorical act of piecing together a broken puzzle, each brushstroke a fragment of memory, each hue a reminder that reconnection begins in the heart that dares to see and discern again.
Here, the “eyes” symbolize the gateway of perception, not only to the world but to the soul’s understanding; eyes for spiritual sight to discern what truly matters and to recognize divine answers.
Through the rhythm of each brushstroke, De Leon explores the delicate contrast between heaviness and lightness, the heaviness that descends in the absence of God’s presence, and the transcendent lightness that emerges when one allows that divine presence to fill the emptiness.
“Eyes Without a Face” also reflects on the nature of relationships and spiritual depth; a connection without meaning, De Leon suggests, is like a vessel without a soul, a hollow form that exists but does not live.
Ultimately, De Leon’s work is not about despair but redemption; it is an invitation to contemplate which relationship truly matters; also to see beyond appearances, to look through the eyes that have wept, questioned, and hoped, and to rediscover the divine light that restores all things to purpose and peace.
Without a face, eyes are just windows without a home; vision needs identity to know what it’s looking for.
