About the Exhibition: "Reach for the Stars" – A Solo Exhibition by Escano

The word dream carries a dual meaning—on one hand, it refers to the vivid thoughts and sensations that unfold in our minds as we sleep; on the other, it represents our deepest aspirations, ambitions, and goals. While distinct, both meanings share a sense of magic—an internal vision that shapes who we are and what we strive for.

In Reach for the Stars, Escano seamlessly blends these two interpretations, exploring the power of dreams as a defining force of identity. To him, dreams are more than fleeting thoughts—they are what make each person unique, fueling their journey and shaping their destiny.

This exhibition follows the adventures of Escoboy, a superhero with boundless aspirations. Through a series of vibrant narratives, we discover who Escoboy is—his passions, challenges, and the dreams that propel him forward. Reach for the Stars marks the beginning of his journey, a symbolic rise not only for Escoboy but for Escano himself as he carves his path in the art world.

Artist Description: Escano, a licensed architect from the University of Santo Tomas, shifted to full-time artistry in January 2024, blending his love for architecture, monochromatic themes, grayscale, superheroes, and pop culture into a distinctive creative style. His work stands out due to these combined influences, with a structural aesthetic rooted in his architectural background, enhanced by his skills in animation, digital drawing, 3D rendering, and toy designing, reflecting the versatility of modern artistry.

At the heart of Escano’s creations is “Escoboy,” an original character that echoes aspects of his own identity, making it deeply relatable to his audience. With multiple variants infused with pop culture references, Escoboy serves as a dynamic medium for Escano to express his creativity and connect with viewers, showcasing his ability to merge diverse influences into a cohesive and engaging artistic portfolio.
