"Greedy" is an artwork that depicts the ongoing corruption in our country. This is one of the most hotly debated topics that has yet to be settled. An average citizen and a corrupt politician are depicted in the painting "Greedy". This picture reminded me of a Filipino television show called "ika-6 na utos" in which the Rambo slippers represent Filipinos striving in life and trying to escape the troubles they face on a daily basis. Crocs, an expensive brand of footwear, represents a corrupt government enslaving the Filipino people. The difficulties we are facing are the result of a government that is attempting to bury us in poverty by taking our hard work while they sit and do nothing.
In the year 2004, Shaireez Surio, also known as 'Shai,' was born in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. She enjoyed painting and cartooning as a child. At the age of 12 she competed in Division and Regional Cartooning. Her talent inspired her to pick Visual Arts as her major in high school. She stated that she wanted to attempt and be good as well as a professional artist, so she opted to join the San Jose del Monte, Bulacan group of young artists, which they have termed 'Kulay Sapa.' Her paintings were done in a way that depicted the events of a Filipino's life. The products and some other things that replaced a person's head are meant to represent the lives, problems, and genuine ideas of a person's everyday life.
