My take on the saying that 'we should pray for the living instead of the dead'. An abstract still life that recreate the flowers we offer for our dear departed.
Born(1977) in Las Pinas, Rick Hernandez took up Fine Arts at Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) and got his Bachelor in Advertising Arts in 1999. Working as a Graphic Designer, he leaned towards visual arts from the influence of Ross Capili whom he worked under after graduating from college. Hernandez has joined several art competition and managed to garner some major awards, among them are Best Entry in Graphic Design and Fine Arts Category of the First Annual Digital Arts Competition of the Graphic Expo Philippines 2001, Honorable Mention award in the 54th AAP Annual Art Competition and 2001 Metrobank Young Painter’s Annual, he is also included as one of the 50 Finalist in 2001 and 2003 Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards, 2nd place at the Non-Representational Category of the 2012 GSIS Annual Painting Competition. Also a Honorable Mention Awardee on the same competition in 2017. He was also included as Philippine representative in the 2010 Asian International Art Exhibition (AIAE) in Mongolia and The First Langkawi Art Biennale 2014, held in Langkawi Malaysia. In 2021 he won another 2nd Place finish at the Non-representational category of the 2021 GSIS Annual Painting competition.
