The artwork is part of a film by the artist titled 'Black & White Road' which the feet continues to walk, a never ending road of the black & white tiles. This artwork shows the feet is walking towards these exhibition of different temptations - (the peace sign hands holding an apple to symbolize temptation - a biblical reference of the story of Adam and Eve) - that can give him happiness, pleasure, harm, or even death. This also shows that what happen if an individual's intrusive thoughts win, in this artwork the artist explains his intrusive thoughts by creating his imaginary black and white road of surreal and never ending walk of suffering in order to escape reality.
Jericho Cedric Maravilla (or ECHO MARAV) is a Philippine-based artist taking up Fine Arts major in Visual Communication at the University of the East - Caloocan. A doodle artist, cartoonist, comic artist, sculptor, animator, and painter, Echo is an all around visual communicator who is unafraid to experiment, explore, and expand the boundaries of his talent. Echo has competed and won in several art contests including Visual Trinamics Art Competition (1st place), 54th Shell National Student Art Competition (4th place in painting, 5th place in sculpture), Faber Castell Drawing Contest (2nd Place), and Titus Doodle Contest (champion), amongst others. His animated film 'Black & White Road' won two awards (2nd place in animation, Special Citation for Best experimental animation) in the 34th Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video. His first digital solo exhibit "Arbitrary Events" sponsored by Art Show Philippines featured surreal visual representations of current events, social issues, and the pursuit of change. Being a young artist at 22, Echo continues to hone his art identity by exploring different kinds of art movements and weaving it with his signature style of vibrantly colored Doodle-Neo Surrealism.
